Discussion Starters

We hope these questions will help you consider (or discuss with others) what
God is teaching you through this month’s study of His Word.

  1. What is important about Moses’ “baby in the basket” story? What are we meant to learn from this?
  2. Why do you think Pharaoh's heart was so hard? (see Oct. 5). What does it mean when someone’s heart is hardened toward God?
  3. What reasons did the Israelites have for complaining? (see Oct. 18). Why do you think they resisted God even though they'd seen so many miracles?
  4. What can we learn from the behavior patterns of the Israelites?
  5. God asked the Israelites to do certain things to show they believed (for example, putting blood on the doorposts). Why didn't God just save them? What might we learn from this?
  6. The Tabernacle is a biblical example of how we can us art to glorify God (October 17). How does your church highlight arts? What ways you can use art for God’s glory?
  7. After many years of faith and obedience, Moses disobeyed God at Meribah. (see Oct. 20). Why do you think this happened?
  8. If you had to summarize Moses's core teaching in your own words, what would you say? (see Oct. 23).
  9. What can we learn from Moses about aging well? (see Oct. 25-28).
  10. What do you think were Moses's best qualities? Why? How can we imitate his example in these areas?
  11. If you were to write a "Psalm 90" about what you've learned about God so far in your life, what might it say? (see Oct. 29)
  12. Explain why Jesus is superior to Moses (see Oct. 31).
