Discussion Starters

We hope these questions will help you consider (or discuss with others) what God is teaching you through this month’s study of His Word.

  • What are the similarities and differences between the literal and figurative uses of the images of doors and gates in Scripture?
  • In the spirit of entering His gates with thanksgiving (see March 10), what are some habits you and your family might cultivate in order to better prepare your hearts for worship?
  • What do you do when sin is crouching at your door (see March 17)? How might you help other believers when sin is crouching at their doors?
  • Explain the symbolism of the Passover meal (see March 18). How did Christ fulfill this symbolism?
  • What Bible verse(s) do you have posted or hanging in your home (see March 19)? How are you living up to them? In what ways might you do better?
  • How might you explain to someone, with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15), that Jesus is the only way to God?
  • After reading the devotional for March 24, do you think Revelation 3:20 is an appropriate verse to use for evangelism? Why or why not?
  • How's your prayer life (see March 28)? Do you ask with a faith-filled expectation of receiving good things? How or how not?
  • When there's an open door or opportunity for ministry (see March 29), is it automatically God's will for you to walk through that door? How do you decide? What if there's more than one open door?
  • Doors in Scripture are sometimes connected with hospitality. What is biblical hospitality? How can you grow in this practice?
