On Monday, August 21, 2017 something happened that made many Americans look up in awe, forgetting for a while their everyday worries and scheduled agendas. That day they had the opportunity to experience a total solar eclipse. People gathered in groups and looked up at the sun. They shared special glasses, and they also shared a sense of wonder and community spirit.
As a community of believers, we share the same sense of wonder when we gaze upon our Savior, and we don’t need anything like special glasses to look at Him. This month in Today in the Word, we’ll look at the mystery of Christ’s salvation in the book of Ephesians. We’ll study what Paul has to say about God’s purpose for our lives and how He wants His people to live in the light of His calling. We’ll also explore the great theme of this letter—God’s eternal vision for His church, the body of Christ.
We hope this month’s study will help you look to Christ in all seasons and circumstances of your life. Our prayer for you echoes Paul’s prayer for the Ephesian church: “That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith” (Eph. 3:17). We thank all our readers for showing the love in the body of Christ with your prayers and support of this ministry.
