Has your faith ever been misunderstood by those closest to you? How did you respond? Today, can you give that hurt to God?
Is there somebody you have been praying for to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior? While their hearts may seem resistant, don’t give up!
What are you facing in your life that you need to talk to Jesus about?
What are you tempted to boast about? What does James teach us about our attitude toward our wealth (or lack of wealth)?
What good and perfect gifts can you thank God for today? Why not make a list of things for which you can be thankful?
Have you allowed yourself to become numb to God’s Word? Ask, “Am I really listening and understanding His Word? Am I looking at my own reflection to see where God is calling me to change?”
How does your speech reflect your relationship with God? Does it bring Him glory? Or is there a need to change how you speak.
Despite your material status, can you find reasons to praise God? How can you begin to view everyone equally and not judge people based upon their financial wealth?
Is there someone in your life you have trouble loving? Why not ask God to give you the grace to show His love to them?
When you see someone in trouble, what is your response? How does your faith live out in your actions?
James’s words are convicting! Check the pulse of your own faith. Is there something you should be doing based upon your beliefs? In what ways should your faith be demonstrated today?
Have you ever found yourself speaking to or about others in ways that do not bring glory to God? Today, why don’t you consider talking to God about someone rather than talking to someone?
Do your words stir up discord or bring peace? Pray for an opportunity to speak peace, truth, and love to somebody today.
Why is covetousness an “invisible” commandment? Why does James warn against this attitude of the heart? What problem did it pose within the church?
Consider meditating on this verse today, “Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law” (Rom. 13:8).
What plans are in your future? How would it shape those plans to add the phrase “if the Lord wills”?
What warning is James giving regarding wealth? If God has blessed you, how can you bless others?
Are you going through a challenging time? Know that God is near to you, and He can give you the strength to persevere.
What role does prayer have in your life? Do you have people who will pray with you in a time of need?
Has someone ever reached out to you when you were lost or wandering? Is there someone God is bringing to mind to whom you should reach out today?
Why do you think James and Jude began their letters the way they did? If you were authoring such a letter, how would you identify yourself?
What does it mean to “contend” for the faith? Do you believe false teachers have “snuck” into our modern-day church? What should we watch out for?
Remembering the past helps us not to repeat it. What mistake have you made in the past during or before your faith journey? What did you learn from it?
What practical steps do you need to take to flee from sexual immorality?
Have you seen cynicism on display within the church? What spiritual disciplines help you develop a heart of humility?
What do those three people have in common? Why are we warned not to follow their example?
In contrast to these false prophets, we should be people who adhere to God’s Word and act in consistent obedience. What small steps can you make today to honor God in your life?
Read through Galatians 5:22–23 again and ask God to produce the fruit of the Spirit in your life.
Do you need to be built up in your faith? Meditate on God’s Word. Do you know someone who needs your prayers? Lift them up in prayer.
As we conclude our study of Jude, why not pause to praise God? He is able to keep us from “stumbling” and gives us “great joy”!
