Brothers Who Believed

A Study in James and Jude

James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ.—James 1:1
Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James.—Jude 1:1

In Matthew 13:55, we are introduced to Jesus’ half-brothers: James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas (Jude). We later learn that they were not supportive of Jesus’ mission, thinking He had either lost His mind (Mark 3:21) or was seeking His own glory (John 7:4–5). However, after Jesus’ resurrection, at least James and Jude had a change of heart. They wrote letters that are part of our New Testament.

As we see the transformation that took place in James and Jude, I pray you will be inspired by their commitment to defending God’s Word and putting that truth into practice. May we renew our own commitment to live our faith to the fullest before a culture that doesn’t recognize Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
